Toyota made a big splash at the Los Angeles Auto Show when the unveiled the all-new Toyota RAV4 Prime PHEV, a brand-new plug-in hybrid SUV that will be added to the Toyota RAV4 lineup next year.
The all-new 2020 Toyota RAV4 Prime PHEV is indeed a continuation of the very popular Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. That said, the RAV4 Prime adds a lot to what consumers already really liked about the new RAV4 including more all-electric range, more efficiency, and a lot more fun behind the wheel.
For starters, it is much more powerful thanks to its plug-in hybrid motor developing 302 horsepower. Yes, you read correctly, there are more than 300 ponies in the Toyota RAV4 Prime PHEV. It can reach 100 km/h in about 6.0 seconds, the equivalent of a Mercedes-Benz GLC hybrid or a Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid. I think we can all agree that the RAV4 Prime PHEV is in good company.
Better yet, its larger battery will offer up to 64 kilometers of battery life in 100% electric mode which means that you will be able to make the vast majority of your trips without needing single drop of fuel while having the option of go further if needed. It's really the best of both worlds, especially since the RAV4 Prime offers the same versatility as the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid with the same cargo space.
We do not yet know the price of the Toyota RAV4 Prime when it arrives on the market next year, but we know however that it will be eligible for government rebates. If you like the idea of a fuel-efficient SUV with a ton of power and want to enjoy pure electric driving on a daily basis without having to change your driving or lifestyle, the new RAV4 Prime may be the best possible option.
